Content Management-Archiving Content

At some point in the life cycle of nearly every piece of content published, the material loses some of its relevance. Over time, published the content will generally become less and less popular among current readers/viewers.

Valuable space in any public media outlet is generally reserved for the most timely and relevant material. Because the amount of content production is ever-increasing, and the needs of the audience are ever changing, there must be a system in place that assists in the storing of less popular content in the back room, so to speak.

An archiving system allows the Content Management Team to replace older, less relevant material, with newer information and publications. The archives make the older material accessible to potential viewers, without taking up important space, which may be needed for more current publications.

Depending on whether the content to be archived appears in a traditional media format (such as books, magazines or other periodicals) or a digital format (as in web-site material, e-books, digital photographs etc&) the archiving process will require different steps for completion.

Just as libraries and museums have specific sections for archives, a web-site or other internet portal will also need a specific place to store its outdated, but still relevant material. Many web-site applications now have a built system for the archiving of records.

The process of Archiving can be both tedious and time consuming, if older content is not relegated to the archives on a regular basis. Therefore it is vital to the overall operation of the content management team to systematically select those items which are to be archived, based on timeliness, popularity, and relevance to the viewer.

International Business

When it comes to international business, the one thing you need to remember is that you will be dealing with new cultures or with people from other cultures. While your focus is always on getting the job done, knowing a little international business etiquette is going to go a long way.

So here are some things you should know about international business before you negotiate:

Always have your business card with you.

Your business card contains everything about you and the international business you are running. Hence, at an introduction, it is only appropriate to present a card. Not only is it a viable way of advertising your services, it also shows your willingness to do business.

Tailor your business style with the culture you’re dealing with.

As previously mentioned, dealing with different cultures is an unavoidable consequence of international business. As such, you need to conform your business style to that of the business organization or company you are dealing with. Sometimes, the direct approach will work best.

For instance, Australians are more responsive to straightforward presentations as their culture has taught them to value directness, with emphasis on both the positive and negative outcomes. However, the same cannot be said of Chinese business people who largely rely on subjective feelings and personal experiences in forming opinions and solving problems rather empirical evidences.

As an international business, keep in mind that the differences in culture will often call for different business approaches.

Dress to succeed.

No matter what country you are dealing with, the general rule in business attire is to wear tasteful clothing that is neither too flashy nor too casual. Some businesses may allow casual wear. However, when in doubt, it is best to err on the formal side.

For women, the standard attire may be business suits or dresses. Conservative is the name of the game. Pantsuits, in classic styles, are also acceptable. Pay attention to where the business meeting is set. Rural areas or small towns tend to favor less formal business clothes.

Making appointments.

Having a contact set up a meeting for you will help you get an appointment. Key decision makers in businesses are often hard to reach without the right connections. But some business cultures would prefer personal relationship to the superficial business entries.

Of course, being on time for appointments is a sign of good manners and respect you afford the person you are meeting with. Therefore, punctuality should always be a priority. This applies even if the person you are meeting with shows up a little late.

There are some countries that prefer mornings as appropriate times to set up appointments. But take note of some other countries like the Philippines and Mexico that consider mid mornings to mid afternoons as proper times for meetings.

All About the Traffic

Traffic only means that the content is not that good.
However, there are also instances wherein a great blog
does not have enough traffic. The key in getting
traffic is to come up with a strategy and make
everyone notice your blog. There are a few things that
you need to consider with regards to generating
traffic to your blog and these are not that different
from planning a regular Web site.

The only exception is that blogs can generate traffic
a lot faster. What you only need to consider first is
your target audience and where exactly you are
generating your blog’s traffic.

The Content

The content of your blog is very important. It is the
reason why people visit your blog. Try to make your
blog interesting and learn to master the ideas
included in your blog. The content should also be
relevant and of high value to the audience. Find out
what your audience wants and if what you are writing
satisfy them.

The content is especially important if you are
planning sales from your blog. Firstly, you must
become a trust-worthy and credible source of
information before people try the product. Blogs are
excellent medium for sales since they allow you to
connect and converse through the use of the content.
You must realize that without a great content, your
blog cannot fully achieve power and leverage against
others.

In order to gain audience for your content, remember
not to publish infrequently. Additionally, do not
criticize others if you do not have facts to support
your claim and references for those facts. If you
criticize, do it in an objective non-personal manner.
What you can do is to publish often and make sure that
the entry you are about to publish is meaningful and
of high-value. Lastly, be yourself to help your
audience relate to you but do not reveal any private
information.

The Ping

Some bloggers take the extra mile just to ping and do
not solely rely on the blog software pings. The blog
software pings’ job is to update the servers for the
purpose of announcing your content updates. Search
engines and blog directories then checks these update
servers for the latest updates; this is the reason why
your blog’s content gets into search engines quickly.

Pings make blogs excellent search engine optimization
tools. There are even instances where it only takes a
day before your content gets into search engines.
However, your blog’s content will only take hours to a
few days to get into most search engines, on average.

When starting a blog, always check the instructions
included. There might be section wherein you can turn
on the blog software ping automatically, which
activates on the background. By doing so, whenever you
publish content in your blog, it will instantly
transmit ping updates.

RSS feeds are also important. Not only will you be
able to publish your content within a short duration
but also replicate your content through the use of
your RSS feed. Nowadays, the flow of your content is
real-time and the RSS allows you to show your content
to a wider audience.

There are several ways to promote your blog. However,
keep in mind that there is no strategy for quick money
when it comes to profitable blogging. It requires
dedication, time, a strategy for the content and
patience before the cash starts flowing in.

Affiliate Marketing-Consistent And Profitable

In November 1994, just after the world wide web was born, a company called CDNOW came up with an online way of selling called “BuyWeb” – a click through purchasing set-up that functioned independently from the storefront. This was the first profitable form of affiliate marketing, and many other online and e-commerce sites soon followed suite with similar programs (Amazon.com being an example.) Affiliate Marketing has now become a consistent method of advertising and selling, and now forms a large part of many company’s marketing strategies. It is cheap, effective, and has little to no risk for all involved.

Traditionally, affiliate marketing functioned on cost-per-click systems, which means that the ‘affiliate’ was paid for every advert or email clicked on or from their website. However, due to many fraudsters taking advantage of this system by using spam techniques, doing false advertising, creating ad-ware, using forced click techniques, doing SEO ‘keyword stuffing’, using tracking cookies and many similar techniques, the cost-per click system is not as popular as it once was. Merchants now rather use CPA (Cost-per-action) or CPS (cost-per-sale) techniques – both being very similar in that an affiliate receives commission or a revenue share when a person subscribes to the merchant or buys a product from them from being referred by the affiliate’s site. These methods present little to no risk for both the merchant and the affiliate, and are therefore preferred. However, Google’s new Latent Semantic Indexing could mean that CPS will become risk free as well (Latent Semantic Indexing will automatically fish out websites with nonsensical content, or that have keyword stuffing or are advertising sites that are not comparison or shopping sites.)

Google Adsense: Having Multiple Sites For One Account and Buying Google Adsense “Secrets”

Is it Possible for Me to Have More Than One Site For My Google Adsense Account?

Yes. In fact, the more sites you have displaying Google Adsense ads, the more money you will make. You don’t even have to notify Google of the new sites. Make sure though, that any new site you add conforms to Google Adsense Program Policies, because if your account gets terminated for any reason, you would not be able to display the Google Adsense ads on any of them.

All you have to do is copy and past the same ad layout code you previously copied and pasted to your original site.

The same rules apply when adding an Adsense for Search box to your new site. Simply choose all the parameters from the choices displayed, copy the code to the new site or new pages within the old site. As in the beginning, Google’s webcrawler will detect the code and you’re all set.

Will It Help Me to Buy Google Adsense “Secrets” E-books and Reports?

As with any money-making venture, there are pitfalls, pros and cons and some outright cons. As popular as Google Adsense has become, it’s no surprise there is a wealth of information for sale. Try it. Google Google Adsense and you’ll see what I mean. There are those promising they make thousands and thousands of dollars a month from Google Adsense and they are willing to share their “secrets” with you – for a price.

The fact is Google Adsense will tell you everything you need to know – for free. They have a support site that covers virtually everything you would need to know about the program and experience will teach you the rest, although I admit I have seen a couple of interesting books on amazon.com.

There are a lot of people out there in cyberspace who will gladly answer your questions for free and there are many forums where you can post questions. You can even email the Google Adsense Support Staff if you have questions that their Support Site doesn’t answer.

Experience will probably be your best teacher anyway. And the good news is the Google Adsense program makes that experience painless in that you have nothing lose. So just take a chance on yourself for now. Learn everything you can to maximize your earning potential.

Why Blogs are Money Makers

There is a great deal of hype and talk about blogs, but when one strips them down and looks at them clearly, they discover that a blog is nothing more than a web site. In essence, a blog is a website featuring an easy to use content management system that allows for quick updating in chronological order. The roots of blogging trace back to online journaling and community-building efforts, but approached from a business perspective, blogs are uniquely positioned to make you money. Their structure, treatment from search engines, and ease of use make them a wonderful moneymaking tool.

The structure of blogs is perfect for revenue-producing efforts. This is because the sites are, invariably, heavy on content and are naturally organized in an intuitive fashion. Regardless of what platform one uses for blogging, they will be able to produce a content-based site featuring a series of potentially well-targeted pages.

Search engines love content. Textual content keeps search engine spiders well-fed and persuades them to visit again and again. Google, Yahoo and MSN reward informative sites chock-full of information with better positioning in search results and index these sites quickly. Because blogs are content-driven, they serve as a model for how to build a “cooperative relationship” with a search engine. In the end, effective blog use produces high search engine rankings and, thus, great traffic levels. Traffic, of course, is a key to profitability. It is hard for a site to profit if no one sees it! The traffic advantages vis-à-vis search engines is one of the chief selling points of blog use.

If you are familiar with running a traditional website, you have undoubtedly learned two things. First, success will hinge, in large measure, on your ability to provide fresh content to your visitors. Second, adding new content to a static site can be a definite hassle.

One must write the content (or pay to have it written), convert it to HTML, insert it into the static page and then upload the page to the server again. The inefficiency of doing this makes it all too tempting to “overlook” making updates as frequently as one should.

Blogging solves this problem. All major blog platforms allow users to create new “posts” (which are nothing more than blocks of content) via an easy interface and to add them to the blog with a few simple mouse clicks. The result is empowering. Instead of dreading content updates, webmasters can actually look forward to adding new material in moments. Whether a blog user writes their own content or outsources the job to a pro, adding the new text is a simple and convenient proposition. This makes it easy to build the content-rich sites that soar to the top of the search engine rankings. It also creates a heightened level of stickiness for the blog, making return visitors far more likely. That traffic, when coupled with the right moneymaking strategy produces impressive results.

If you are relying exclusively on traditional static websites for your online ventures, you may want to reconsider your perspective. Using a blog affords some unique advantages and can be a great way to create profitable, highly-visited sites that require minimal effort.
